The Boston Red Sox traded outfielder Shane Victorino to the Los Angeles Angels on Monday, and the 34-year-old “Flyin’ Hawaiian” got a little teary while talking to the media on Monday night.
Victorino has been in Boston since 2013, and — as a key part of the 2013 World Series winning team — he played a major role in helping the city recover from the horrific Boston Marathon Bombing. Though he only spent a few seasons with the Sox, it’s easy to see how Victorino became a fan-favorite.
He’s just a flat-out good dude, a fact that resurfaced during his emotional interview.
