I’ve got bad news for Scarlet Knights fans. Five Rutgers football players were arrested Thursday in connection to a string of home invasions in New Brunswick, N.J. that occurred in April 2015.

Per MyCentralJersey.com:

Andre Boggs, 20, Ruhann Peele, 22, Nadir Barnwell, 20, Rahzonn Gross, 20, and Delon Stephenson, 22, all were suspended from the team by athletics department Julie Hermann…

Two former Rutgers football players, Stephenson’s older brother Daryl, who remained at large as of Thursday afternoon, and Tejay Johnson, who was working as a student-assistant with the program last year, also were arrested. The Stephensons attended Sayreville High School…

Police also determined that Johnson was one of six individuals who surrounded a group of at least four other individuals, including a Rutgers student, and assaulted them during an incident on Delafield Street on April 25, 2015.

Thursday’s arrests will exacerbate Rutgers’ less-than-ideal offseason. Head football coach Kyle Flood is currently under investigation for illegally contacting faculty members in regards to keeping players academically eligible.
