A restaurant in St. Louis celebrated Mexican Independence Day early on Sunday by beating a pinata of Donald Trump to a pulp.

The event was hosted by Yaquis restaurant and called “El Trumpo Takes a Thumpo,” according to the St. Louis-based blog The Gateway Pundit.

A Facebook entry for the event reads:

This weekend Cherokee Street is celebrating Mexican Independence Day. We will have our regular menu and business hours, but we have a very special event at sundown on Sunday night. We built a giant piñata of Donald Trump, and we are taking a bat to this piñata at sundown. Let’s spill some candy for the kinders.

Trump has angered many Hispanics because of his comments and policy proposals regarding illegal immigrants. He has also said that he plans to build a fence all along the southern U.S. border and that he will deport all illegal aliens within 18 months of his election. (RELATED: Donald Trump: ‘We’re Not Going To Have A Country’ Without A Strong Border)

“This is for la raza [the race], for the people,” says a man who seemingly helped organize the event. “Having a different color, having a different language, having a different nationality is a beautiful thing. The United States was founded on a melting pot of people.”

“We’re really mad that this guy is saying that all the Spanish people, they’re rapists and animals,” another man tells the audience, adding “Viva Mexico!”
