CNBC host Jim Cramer suggested that Hillary Clinton will accelerate the decline of coal production in the U.S. if she is elected.

Cramer, appearing on “Squawk on the Street” Friday, said, “It’s not going to be 2020. It’s 2018” when coal is going out of production.

“Coal is going out of production in this country,” he continued. “If Hillary Clinton is elected, all of the companies that think they are going to be OK, the utilities, forget about it.”

“They’re going natural gas and they’re going to have to go renewables,” he said. “And, David, [with] renewables, you still need baseline. And the baseline in this country has been coal. The baseline will be natural gas four years from now.”
