Milford, CT Public Schools Ban Halloween

Font Size:

Lots of joyless, miserable people dislike Halloween, but we all have different ways of coping with it. For example, I deal with it by setting elaborate, mind-shattering traps for trick-or-treaters, like in the Saw movies. But I wouldn’t dream of banning the holiday altogether, even for the little twerps who are smart enough not to invade my property.

Some people are even more rotten than I am, if you can believe it. Katherine Timpf, NRO:

The Milford Public Schools district in Connecticut completely banned Halloween activities in order to be “inclusive” to the kids from the few families who didn’t celebrate it…

Victoria Johannsen, the mother of a third-grader at Live Oaks School, told the Connecticut Post that she heard about the policy in a letter from the principal. The letter, she said, announced that there would not be Halloween parades at the elementary schools because of “numerous incidents of children being excluded from activities due to religion, cultural beliefs, etc.”

No Halloween costumes, no bat-shaped cookies, no fake vampire blood, no nothin’. If some kids can’t or won’t participate in Halloween activities, then nobody gets to have any fun.

Just because you live in America, that doesn’t give you the right to alienate anyone else by engaging in American activities. If a single other person doesn’t like it, nobody gets to play. Halloween is a microaggression. Check your pumpkin privilege. #JackOLanternsMatter.

Let’s hope Christmas is next. Don’t ban Kwanzaa, though. That would be racist.
