Joe Scarborough ranted against liberal media bias on Monday saying, “Name the single Republican that has hosted a Sunday show, that has been an anchor of a news network for the big three networks over the past 50 years, you can not do it.”
On MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Monday, Scarborough railed against the establishment media including ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, who worked in the Clinton White House.
“The people that run the Sunday shows are all Democrats,” Scarborough insisted. Co-host Mika Brzezinski also interjected with support for Scarborough’s arguments.
Panelist and Managing Editor for Bloomberg Politics Mark Halperin told Scarborough, “I agree with you 100 percent… There’s huge liberal media bias.”
Scarborough insisted, “The people that have run the network newscasts, the nightly newscasts have been all Democrats.” Halperin agreed with Scarborough’s assessment as well.
“Somehow, if you’re George Stephanopoulos it’s okay, because you’re a Democrat and if you’re Tim Russert, it’s okay,” lamented Scarborough. “All I am saying to you, and you can’t do it and nobody here can do it: name the single Republican that has hosted a Sunday show, that has been an anchor of a news network for the big three networks over the past 50 years: you can not do it! So we Republicans, what I’m explaining to you we’re told to sit back.”
Halperin noted that Tony Snow, former White House Press Secretary under George W. Bush, hosted “Fox News Sunday.,” but Scarborough suggested that at “ABC, CBS, NBC, you can’t do it and nobody out there, no media critic can” name a Republican host of these shows.
Halperin added, “Not just in the examples you’ve given but in less prominent people.”
Scarborough said, “The definition of objective, for we Republicans is, we put up with the B.S. and the cultural slant and the cultural bias from the kings, the people that are the best of the best.”
Scarborough then listed of Tim Russert and Tom Brokaw as objective journalists, but still labeled them as Democrats and liberals.
“At some point the mainstream media is going to have to realize they are embarrassing themselves in 2015 because all they do is hire liberals to run Sunday’s shows and nightly new,” he claimed.
