A police officer reassured shooting survivors who were evacuating the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, Calif., by promising them, “I’ll take a bullet before you do. That’s for damn sure.”

The comments were captured by a video taken by Gabi Flores, a customer services coordinator at the Inland Regional Center. Flores provided the footage to MSNBC.

It shows officers giving survivors directions on how and where to evacuate the building. (RELATED: Syed Rizwan Farook’s Dating Profile Shows He Liked Reading ‘Religious Books,’ Target Practice)

“Are you ready? If you’re not cool, I’m not walking ’em, dude,” an officer can be heard saying. “Sir? Go, go. Walk to that deputy right there. Keep your hands where I can see them. All the way to that deputy. You’re going to make a left where the deputy’s at.”

“Thank you. Try to relax. Everyone try to relax,” another officer says. “I’ll take a bullet before you do. That’s for damn sure. Just be cool, OK?”
