Either Hillary Clinton doesn’t understand how averages work or she committed to eventually closing down nearly every school in the nation during a town hall event in Iowa on Tuesday.

“This school district and these schools throughout Iowa are doing a better than average job,” Clinton reassured a crowd gathered at Keota High School.

But she added: “Now, I wouldn’t keep any school open that wasn’t doing a better than average job. If a school’s not doing a good job, then, you know, that may not be good for the kids.”

Clinton did not provide specifics on how she would decide which schools are above average and which are sub-par. Nor did she say how quickly she would move to close approximately half of the nation’s schools. She also did not specify whether she would continue her purge of bad schools throughout the duration of her presidency.
