A 20-year-old woman died from her injuries after being pushed in front of a train on the Berlin underground on Tuesday night, with passengers helping police catch the alleged killer.
Police say that the incident happened on Tuesday evening at Ernst Reuter Platz, on the U2 line in the west of the capital.
Police say a 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of homicide. Other passengers overpowered him shortly after the incident late Tuesday at the Ernst-Reuter-Platz station in the west of the German capital.
Berlin police spokeswoman Heidi Vogt said Wednesday that the victim and the suspect didn’t appear to have known each other and there was no indication of a quarrel.
Vogt said the man, who was born in Germany but had Iranian citizenship, had previous convictions.

Alright, I know what you’re thinking, teabaggers, but you can just cool it. Iran is 99.4% Muslim. That means there’s a chance the man who did this belongs to some other religion. Haven’t you seen “The Book of Mormon”? Those guys are nuts.
Besides, even if this guy is a Muslim — and I am in no way conceding that he is — that doesn’t mean he was motivated by Islam. It doesn’t mean he read something in his holy book that convinced him it was okay to do this. That convinced him he needed to do this to be a good Muslim. What, are you going to blame Christianity every time a Christian commits a crime? Nice try, wingnuts.
My condolences to the Muslim community in Berlin. You’re already being blamed unfairly for the actions of a few thousand of your co-religionists who decided to sexually assault women throughout Europe on New Year’s Eve, for reasons entirely unrelated to Islam. Now you have to deal with people giving you dirty looks and making rude comments about this motiveless crime.
You’re the real victims, always, and nobody can ever take that away from you. Sei stark, meine Freunde. Allah ist großartig.
