Sen. [crscore]Bernie Sanders[/crscore] released a new advertisement Thursday featuring no words while Simon and Garfunkel’s “America” plays over a series of images. This isn’t the duo’s first rodeo in presidential politics, as they previously played fundraisers for Democrats Eugene McCarthy and George McGovern.

In 1968 during McCarthy’s failed bid for the Democratic nomination, Simon and Garfunkel played two fundraisers for the senator. Also in 1972, the folk duo played a “Come Home America!” benefit for Democrat nominee George McGovern. McGovern even used “Bridge Over Troubled Water” as the musical backdrop for his campaign.

Both Simon and Garfunkel are the same age as Bernie, 74.

Hillary supporters seem upset at the inclusion of white people in the commercial. The campaign has recently been stepping up attacks insinuating Sanders has a race problem. The Democratic voters in early primary states of Iowa and New Hampshire are majority white.
