Nicholas Turner, a member of the Northwest Missouri State football team, was discovered dead in his dorm room on Sunday.
A junior defensive end, Turner — who had a sack in the Bearcats’ 2015 Division II national championship victory over Shepherd University — totaled 22 tackles this past season.
The university released a statement regarding Turner’s death on Sunday evening.
The Northwest Missouri State University community is mourning the loss of one of its students.
Nicholas C. Turner, a junior corporate recreation and wellness major from St. Louis, was found dead today in his residence on campus. The Northwest community is invited to a gathering at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, in the J.W. Jones Student Union Ballroom to remember Turner.
Turner’s death is currently being investigated by authorities.
