In a video that has been widely circulated on Mexican social media this week, Mexican hitmen — called sicarios — pull into the neighborhood where drug kingpin El Chapo’s Sinaloa Cartel is located and start a tense situation with police.
In the video, cartel hitmen and police meet at a residence in the town of Escuinapa, Sinaloa. Utimately, the heavily-armed sicarios force the police to drive off in fear, according to Spanish daily El Pais. Shortly after the cops leave, the hitmen grab 27-year-old Elias Constantino out of his home and kill him.
Constantino was a local businessman involved in agricultural production, according to El Pais. Police were looking for Constantino after he allegedly kidnapped a woman in an old rural courting tradition and for shooting her uncle, according to the report.
It is suspected that Constantino was in the cross-hairs of the cartel because of his thriving agricultural business or because of his alleged kidnapping of the woman.
In the video, a woman can be heard screaming, “Slash their tires, slash their tires! Those sons of bitches are going to leave!” she says in reference to the fleeing cops.
