When your father is a Marine sniper and your mother is a Marine drill instructor, you learn to shoot “at a pretty early age,” says model Hannah Ferguson.

The three time Sports Illustrated Swimsuit-alum told Fox411 that her unique upbringing — her parents “started [her] with pellet guns” — gave her “a different outlook than most people” when it comes to guns and the military.

“I feel like it’s good to have gun knowledge,” the 23-year-old Texan explained. “I feel like a lot of people are scared of guns. They think they’re bad and they really don’t know anything about it.”

Ferguson further stated that while she thinks there is room for ramped up background checks for potential purchasers, she doesn’t “think [the Second Amendment] should be taken away from people.”

“Any bad person who wants to find a gun is going to find a way to get it and then what? We don’t have a way to protect ourselves? I feel like people should get more knowledge and understanding.”
