A 60-year-old man carrying a concealed weapon successfully stopped a robbery attempt at a Seattle 7-Eleven Sunday morning.
According to Fox News, the would-be-robber entered the store at approximately 5:45 a.m. local time. He swung a hatchet at the clerk before the man — “who visits the store every morning to get coffee” — unholstered his weapon and shot the assailant.
The attacker was pronounced dead at the scene, and the clerk suffered “minor injuries to his stomach” but is in stable condition.
“This could have been a lot worse,” King County Sheriff’s Sergeant Cindi West told KCPQ. “The clerk could be the one laying there dead on the floor right now.”
