Sen. Bernie Sanders joked Tuesday about trying to get “every detail” of the message a topless protestor had written on her chest.
Sanders was greeted during a Saturday night rally in Arizona by Anni Ma. She was topless and wearing “free the nipple stickers.” On her chest were the words “Hate speech is not free speech.” On her back were the words “Stop facism.”
Sanders was asked about the incident during a radio interview Monday and said, “I was trying very hard to get every detail! No, just kidding. No.”
The radio host then said seriously that he actually was trying hard to read the words. Sanders remarked, “You were really studying the issue as an investigative reporter, was that what you were doing? Good. That’s what a reporter should do.”
