Donald Trump Surges, Virtually Tied With Clinton In National Poll

Since clinching the Republican nomination Donald Trump has surged in general election polls and the latest one shows him one point behind Hillary Clinton and within the margin of error, according to a Reuters poll released Wednesday.

Clinton leads with 41 percent and Trump follows with 40 percent, 19 percent of those polled are undecided. The online poll was of 1,289 Americans and has a margin of error of plus or minus three percent. (RELATED: Swing State Polls Show Trump And Clinton Neck And Neck) 

Reuters also conducts daily online tracking polls and they show Trump closing the gap with Clinton since becoming the presumptive nominee on May 4. On May 4, Clinton was leading Trump in the daily online poll 44.4 percent to 32.6 percent. On May 10, Clinton and Trump were essentially tied, 36.2 percent to 35.8 percent.
