Tennessee Sen. [crscore]Bob Corker[/crscore] said Monday that Donald Trump’s “questioning of the status quo” has forced countries such as China and Russia to rethink their stances in a “positive way.”

“The fact that he’s challenging some of the status quo, if you will, it is  causing these countries to think a little bit differently about the U.S,” Corker said outside Trump Tower. He added, “I say that in a positive way.”

The senator, who is chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, said he had met with his Chinese “counterpart” the week prior. There has been previous talk of world leaders reacting to Trump, though usually in a negative context.

“I’m having foreign leaders ask if they can endorse me to stop Donald Trump,” Hillary Clinton said at a March debate. President Barack Obama also said in April, “I think that I’ve been very clear earlier that I am getting questions constantly from foreign leaders about some of the wackier suggestions that are being made.”

Corker was in New York meeting Trump on Monday. He said the purpose of the meeting was to talk policy and for them to get to know each other.
