When asked if Sen. Elizabeth Warren should be Hillary Clinton’s vice presidential candidate, Montana Sen. Jon Tester, chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, expressed doubt that America was “ready for two women.”

In audio recorded by WNYC/PRI reporter Todd Zwillich, Tester praised Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown but expressed doubt about Warren. The Montana senator is in agreement with Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid who said “hell no” to the idea Warren would be VP.

Zwillich asked Tester, “There is all the traditional speculation around VP candidates, a couple of them are senators. Harry Reid has made his views known that he wouldn’t want viable Democratic senators plucked out of the senate, can you, can you just give me your thinking?” (RELATED: Warren For VP? Tester replied, “I’m a big Sherrod Brown fan, I say it in somewhat jokingly way but truth is that Sherrod and I are good friends and it has a Republican governor in the state of Ohio so it probably wouldn’t be good for the body, but I think he would bring a nice mix to the ticket.” (RELATED: Sen. “And Warren,” the reporter asked. Tester commented, “Well, I don’t know. Is the country ready for two women? I don’t know. You know? I don’t know.”
