The NHL has officially decided to award Las Vegas an expansion team.

The AP broke the news on Twitter, saying, “BREAKING: NHL awards expansion franchise to Las Vegas.” (SLIDESHOW: This NHL Player’s Girlfriend Is A Sexy ModelAlmost Too Hot To Handle)

The AP had previously reported on June 14 that Las Vegas would be the destination of the NHL’s new expansion team. (RELATED: BREAKING: NHL Decides On City For Newest Expansion Team)

An expansion draft will now have to be held to establish a roster for Las Vegas’ team. According to CSN Philly, teams “can protect up to 11 players. All players with no-trade or no-movement clauses are also protected. First and second-year pros are also protected. Teams can protect one goalie, three defensemen and seven forwards or one goalie and eight skaters. No club will lose more than one player in the draft.”

Huge day for hockey fans everywhere.
