A surveillance camera captured a woman fighting off an attempted rape around Prospect Park Brooklyn early Sunday morning, NBC New York reported.
According to NBC, the 34-year-old woman was assaulted from behind when the man lifted her dress and yanked at her underwear.
The perpetrator then knocked the woman over and struck her several times, as police say he tried to sexually assault her. The woman tried to kick her attacker in the head from the ground, before the assailant turned around and ran away. He is still at large.
Rapes in New York City were up 16 percent back in May and NBC notes that several attempted rapes have happened near Prospect Park in the past few months.
