One of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s old tweets made an awkward reappearance Tuesday morning.

Trump was effusive in his praise of first lady Michelle Obama’s address to the Democratic National Convention (DNC) several years ago.

“Dems should be proud,” he said of her remarks.

The Trump campaign is currently battling accusations that a portion of wife Melania Trump’s address to the Republican National Convention (RNC) Monday night was lifted verbatim from remarks the first lady previously gave to the DNC. The campaign and its surrogates have vigorously denied the allegation. (RELATED: So Melania Trump Plagiarized Part Of Her Speech)

“To think that she would do something like that knowing how scrutinized her speech was going to be last night is just really absurd,” campaign chairman Paul Manafort told CNN’s Chris Cuomo on Tuesday morning.

RNC chairman Reince Priebus told attendees at a Bloomberg Politics breakfast Tuesday morning he would “probably” fire the person responsible for drafting Trump’s convention address.

“The distraction gets you off message a little bit this morning, but I think we’ll get back to action this afternoon,” he said.
