CLEVELAND — Anti-Trump GOP factions among the party faithful failed to put forth any action on the convention floor Tuesday night, as Donald Trump became the Republican Party nominee, despite a promise of “big things” happening from their end.

Trump clinched the GOP nomination for the presidency when his son Don Jr. cast New York state’s 95 votes and put him over the top of the necessary 1237 delegate votes.

What was initially thought to be a challenge from an anti-Trump delegate on the floor after the roll call was complete from the state of Alaska turned out to be a clarification of the state party rules.

“It turned out just fine. In the state of Alaska we had rules that were ambiguous and the Republican National Committee not the Trump campaign—they interpreted Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz had suspended their campaign, so they gave all the votes to Trump. We actually voted 12 for Ted Cruz, 11 for Trump, and 5 for Rubio,” Alaska delegate and Trump’s Chairman to rural Alaska Jerry Ward told The Daily Caller.

“We just corrected the record. And we also now changed our rules to be more clear. We’re clear now,” he said.
