Kendall Jenner explained she had a hard time with Caitlyn Jenner’s transition because he was the one who gave her the identity of being a tomboy.

In an upcoming interview with Vogue, the 19-year-old super model and reality television star said things have “gotten easier” but at first seeing her dad transition from a man to a woman was hard. (RELATED: Kendall Jenner Reportedly Dating Rapper A$AP Rocky)

“We had ATVs and go-carts, and I grew up riding them all the time, which is why I’m a good driver,” Jenner said. “It’s super ironic to think about now, but it’s something I can thank my dad for: how much of a tomboy I was.” (RELATED: Kendall Jenner, Nipple Piercing, No Bra — That’s Quite A Combination)

“That’s why I think the whole thing– her transition–was really hard for me, because I was like, ‘But you taught me everything, tomboy,'”she added.

Jenner said while it was hard to accept things at first, she had to “get past it” and embrace the “new person to love.”

“But it’s all supernormal now,” she said. “It’s not weird at all. Sometimes I look at a picture of my dad when she was a guy, and it makes me a little sad–I get emotional.”

“You have to get past it–you’ve got a new person to love,” she added. “It’s kind of a blessing in disguise–if that’s not the wrong way to say it.”
