Mel Gibson’s ex-wife Oksana Grigorieva just lost tens of millions of dollars in her divorce settlement. Grigorieva was originally set to receive a whopping $15 million, but that number was cut all the way down to $250,000 due to the domestic abuse claims she brought up during an interview on “The Howard Stern Show” in 2013.
Gibson pleaded no contest to charges of misdemeanor battery at the time and agreed to a $15 million settlement under the condition that Grigorieva not release damaging audiotapes of the actor/director. However, as we all know, those tapes surfaced to much fanfare and she also told authorities that Gibson had assaulted her and threatened her and her daughter with a gun.
After a year of negotiating following these events, the pair had agreed to a total $750,000 settlement which Gibson would have doled out in three installment over the last few years by September 2016. While he did pay the first installment of $250,000, the California Court of Appeals ruled that her comments in the Stern interview nullified the remaining $500,000.
After all that, Grigorieva will walk away with just $250,000 total, or 1/60 of the original $15 million she was owed.
