Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has yet to set a date to visit Louisiana, which was recently devastated by historic flooding, but managed to raise millions in campaign contributions over the weekend.
At just two events alone, CNN reports the former secretary of state managed to bring in just under $4 million during her fundraising push in high-end Massachusetts vacation spots, including Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. The candidate is slated to tour the solid-blue state of California, followed by another weekend of fundraising in the posh Hamptons.
Tickets for the Martha’s Vineyard fundraiser – which The Chicago Tribune noted, like all her Massachusetts fundraising events, was closed to journalists – cost a whopping $2,700 to attend and $27,000 to host.
While Clinton was raking in funds, GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, along with his running mate Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, toured the damage around Baton Rouge. Democratic Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards praised the two for drawing attention to the situation.
The 10 days of flash flooding led to 13 deaths and damaged upwards of 60,000 homes in the state.
