R.W. Bray received a standing ovation for the speech he gave as he introduced Donald Trump at his rally in Austin, Texas Tuesday night.

Bray, who is in charge of African American outreach for the Texas GOP, said Americans — both black and white — are slaves to the government because they think it should care for them “from the cradle to the grave.”

“This is the party of Abraham Lincoln, and we will not be divided,” Bray told the crowd.

“We ought to be convicted that we’ve allowed the narrative of Republicanism to be rewritten,” Bray said. “Like possums, we’ve rolled over and we’ve played dead, hoping and begging that the dangers of liberalism will pass us by.”

“Like laughing hyenas, we’ve run away from responsibility of communities that have been drenched in poverty and inequality, all because we’ve been too afraid to be courageous.”

“But I’m here to remind you of who we are.”
