The Donald Trump campaign fired back at Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s claim that the Islamic State supports the Republican nominee Thursday, saying her attacks are “desperate” and “unhinged.”

“Her claim that no lives were lost in Libya was an insult to the memory of the four brave Americans who died in Benghazi. So it’s no surprise she’s resorting to unhinged and dishonest attacks,” said Jason Miller, the Trump campaign’s senior communications advisor, in a statement provided to The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Clinton claimed that ISIS is throwing its support behind Trump during a press conference Thursday, her first in over 260 days. She pointed to a recent article by former National Counter-Terrorism Center director Matthew Olsen to back up her point.

“They have, as Matt Olsen pointed out, said they hope that Allah delivers America to Trump,” said Clinton during a press conference Thursday. “They have said that they hope that he is the president, because it would give even more motivation to every jihadi.”

Clinton’s accusation came one day after Trump released his 10-point national security plan, which she chastised for lacking a clear roadmap to defeat ISIS. That same day, both Clinton and Trump were featured on NBC’s “Commander-in-Chief Forum.”

“Last night Hillary Clinton failed the commander-in-chief test where she was unable to answer for her terrible foreign policy judgment, mishandling of classified information and claims that the [Veteran’s Affairs] wait time scandal was overblown,” said Miller.

“These are the desperate attacks of a failing campaign sinking in the polls, and characteristics of someone woefully unfit for the presidency of the United States.”
