Angry fans chanted “Metro sucks” throughout Nationals Stadium Thursday night after officials closed the transit system mid-game.
In the lead up to the final game of the National League Division Series (NLDS), fans pleaded with officials at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) to stay open late. Metro officials stood firm, however, in their “no exceptions” policy for staying open after midnight. When the stadium officials made the announcement that the last trains were leaving the Navy Yard station outside Nationals Park, fans unleashed their anger on the D.C. Metro in unison, reports The Washington Post.

Fans chanted “Metro sucks” when the announcement was made during the seventh inning of Thursday’s game. It appears nearly none of the fans left the final game to catch the last trains.

Ultimately the Nationals lost 4-3 after giving up four runs in the seventh, sending the Dodgers to the National League Championship Series to face off against the Cubs. This is the third time in five seasons the Nationals have failed to advance in the playoffs.
