Republican nominee Donald Trump’s national political director is stepping back from the campaign, according to a Friday report by Politico.

“I have not resigned but for personal reasons have had to take a step back from the campaign,” national political director for the Trump campaign Jim Murphy wrote Politico.

Murphy joined the campaign in June, and worked to create field operations in key battleground states. Murphy increasingly became the central contact for ground operations between the Republican National Committee and the Trump campaign.

Murphy worked with former campaign manager Paul Manafort in Bob Dole’s 1996 presidential campaign. Manafort resigned in August amid an ongoing scandal involving his Russian ties, prompting the installation of Kellyanne Conway to the post.
