Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton won major state Colorado Tuesday evening in the 2016 presidential election, in one of the most heated elections in years.

Major networks Fox News, NBC News and Reuters projected the win Tuesday evening.

Colorado, unlike solidly Democratic states California, Oregon and Washington, could have gone to either candidate, but Clinton managed to secure it as part of her bid for the White House.

Trump visited Colorado Saturday in a last attempt to rally his base, encouraging supporters to deliver their ballots by hand.

During his speech, Trump emphasized that Clinton and the rest of the political establishment are “stupid people” and generally poor negotiators, a situation he would remedy if elected president.

On a subject of interest more immediately relevant to Colorado, Trump said he would soften some of the regulations around coal. While not a major driver of the economy in Colorado, coal is still fairly important to the northwestern part of the state.

Ultimately, Trump’s efforts weren’t enough.
