Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is currently President-elect Donald Trump’s favorite option for secretary of state, reported the Associated Press Monday.

A senior Trump official, speaking to the AP on the condition of anonymity, said the former mayor has little competition and the job is his if he wants it. Giuliani, a former federal prosecutor, confirmed he will not serve as an attorney in the Trump administration, but he has yet to rule out other positions.

Giuliani was not the initial front-runner for Trump’s top diplomat, as many onlookers were predicting the president-elect would choose Sen. Bob Corker, former Speaker of the House New Gingrich or former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton. Like Giuliani, all three men were supporters of Trump during his campaign. Corker, Gingrich and Bolton all have more experience than Giuliani, who spent most of his career as a successful federal prosecutor in New York before becoming one of the city’s most renowned mayors. Giuliani became synonymous with New York City after his handling of the terrorist attacks September 11, 2001.

Trump’s transition team is currently hard at work filling the thousands of appointed positions for the next administration, including top cabinet positions. Republican Party Chairman Reince Priebus was tapped for chief of staff Sunday, while Trump campaign CEO Stephen Bannon was named senior counselor.
