Michelle Obama, after months of campaigning for Hillary Clinton, went to bed on election night and woke up to find her Democratic nominee had lost to Donald Trump.

The Obamas sat down for an interview with People Magazine in which they discussed their lives together and their time in the White House. Michelle was also asked about what she did on election night.

“I went to bed,” she promptly responded.

“I don’t watch debates. I don’t like to watch the political discourse. I never have,” the first lady said. “I barely did with him,” she said gesturing toward her husband sitting next to her.

“Once you do what you can do, you know, then you rest easy. It was in the hands of the American people,” Michelle continued. “I think anything that I felt about the election, I said. And, you know, and I stand by.”

Michelle Obama was one of Hillary Clinton’s most outspoken advocates, delivering dozens of speeches at campaign rallies. Michelle admitted she still feels the same way about President-elect Donald Trump, but is finally moving on like her husband.

“This is our democracy and this is how it works. And so, we are ready to work with the next administration and make sure that they are as successful as they can be. Because that’s what’s best for this country.”
