President-elect Donald Trump fired Michael Flynn, Jr., a supposed member of his transition team, Tuesday for social media posts about the ‘Pizzagate’ conspiracy, which alleges that somehow the Hillary Clinton campaign is tied to a child sex trafficking ring.

Michael Flynn, Jr. is the son of Trump’s pick for national security adviser, Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn.

The tweet came only hours after a North Carolina man fired a rifle inside the Washington DC-based restaurant while apparently “investigating” the unsupported fringe theory.

Several people criticized Trump’s team due to the fact that someone somewhat close to the team is posting “fake news” on social media, according to The New York Times.

Vice President-elect Mike Pence said that “Gen. Flynn’s son has no involvement in the transition team whatsoever,” despite reports that he had an official transition team email address.

And Mike Flynn, Jr. still doesn’t seem to be ready to abandon his unfounded belief.

He has been continuing to battle with people on Twitter over his assertion that there is legitimacy to Pizzagate, retweeting other incidences of people, namely journalists, spreading “fake news.”

Police debunked the complicated Pizzagate hypothesis saying it was nothing more than a “fictitious conspiracy theory.”
