The D.C. Council’s Twitter account appears to be making light of the Holocaust and fascist regimes of the past, saying things “ended very poorly” the last time governments made trains run on time.
I don’t know, @maustermuhle, but the last few times a government allowed cheering and things (like trains) ran on time, it ended very poorly
— Council of DC (@councilofdc) January 17, 2017
The tweet from the official D.C. Council account came in response to a seemingly innocuous comment about the procedures and rules governing the D.C. Council, and how they compare to the rules at the Montgomery County Council. The Montgomery County Council apparently lets citizens who attend a hearing cheer or boo, while onlookers in the D.C. Council chambers must remain silent.
The D.C. Council account responded with the tweet, even referencing the city’s notoriously troubled Metro service.
