Police in the Florida Keys arrested a woman on Friday for knifing up a vinyl sign promoting Donald Trump.
The woman, Elizabeth McSurdy, told Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies she slashed the Trump sign because it “ruined her chill,” reports NBC Miami.
The slashing incident occurred on the relaxing island of Big Pine Key at R & T Vinyl Signs — “custom vinyl signs, lettering, banners & wraps” — at about 5 p.m. on Friday.
According to the owners of R & T Vinyl Signs, McSurdy also confronted them and threatened them as she was holding the Trump-sign-cutting weapon.
McSurdy, a 30-year-old resident of Oakland, California, admitted slashing the sign and holding a knife but denied threatening the business owners, sheriff’s deputies said.
The size of the knife is unclear.
The deputies were able to identify McSurdy because employees at R & T Vinyl Signs snapped a photo of her automobile as she was driving off.
McSurdy has been arrested and faces charges of aggravated assault and criminal mischief.
It’s not clear if she has posted bail.
