European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said Thursday he would campaign for independence of U.S. states if President Donald Trump continues to praise Brexit.

The United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union became reality Wednesday when Prime Minister Theresa May notified the European Union of the country’s intention to leave within two years. White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer called Trump a “leader in the effort to call Brexit” when asked for a comment on the news.

Juncker didn’t take the comment lightly, saying he would back independence of U.S. states if Trump’s praise for Brexit continues.

“The newly elected U.S. president was happy that Brexit was taking place and was asking other countries to do the same,” Juncker said at a meeting in Malta. “If he goes on like that, I’m going to promote the independence of Ohio and the exit of Texas.”

Trump recently assured Brits that a new trade agreement with the U.K. will be set “very quickly” despite warnings from his predecessor, former President Barack Obama.

“I think Brexit is going to end up being a great thing,” he said in a January interview with The Sunday Times and German tabloid Bild.
