Democratic New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker predicted gloom and doom Wednesday night from the GOP-led healthcare bill set for a vote Thursday, telling MSNBC’s Chris Hayes that the bill would cause “death, pain, and suffering.”

“The craven bill I see coming to vote tomorrow is just cruel and just wrong,” Booker said. “Screw the politics. This is about people, this is about what’s morally right, this is about what we stand for.”

The New Jersey senator opined that the bill is “not just worse” than the Affordable Care Act, but a “death knell.”

“I don’t mean to be melodramatic about this,” he said to nodding from Hayes, “but I’ve seen this when people have to wait to get their healthcare ’til the emergency room.”

“This will cost American lives if it ever becomes law. This will mean death, pain, and suffering to people’s families,” Booker said accusatorially. “For God’s sake, for the sake of our country, what we stand for, they cannot pass this piece of legislation.”
