It was the best of signs, it was the worst of signs, and West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin posed with both of them recently.
Last Thursday, Manchin, was photographed with members of the group Students for Life holding a sign reading: “We Don’t Need Planned Parenthood.”

But it was only a month ago that the Democrat, who is up for re-election next year, embraced the pro-abortion group by posing with a woman holding an “I Stand With Planned Parenthood” sign.

Axios first noted the conflicting signage and reported that it shows the tightrope Manchin must walk by being a Democrat in a deeply conservative state. Manchin claims he is personally opposed to abortion, but he has voted to fund Planned Parenthood.
Axios further reported: “The Senator’s communications director, Jonathan Kott, tells me the Senator will pose for photographs with any of his constituents and that any signs he holds bear no relation to his policy positions.”
