Everyone has been waiting for President Trump’s response to a New York Times report that he told James Comey to stop the Mike Flynn investigation, but the first defense came from his son, Donald Trump Jr.
It came in the form of a quoted tweet.
Geraldo Rivera tweeted at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday that Trump’s actions did not constitute obstruction.
“News Flash, @realDonaldTrump hoping @JamesComeyFBI cuts @MikeFlynn some slack because he is a ‘good man’ is not close to #Obstruction,” he wrote.

Donald Trump Jr. quote tweeted Rivera’s explanation less than an hour later with the caption, “Truth.”

He then tweeted a follow-up to clarify that he wasn’t implying the allegations were true.
Give me a break. Me agreeing with someone’s interpretation of a theory does nothing of the sort. You’re trying way to hard. https://t.co/znVhc5FhWd

President Trump has yet to respond to the allegations. The rest of the family has remained silent as well.
