Millions of people in the southwestern U.S. face more sweltering heat over the next seven days, according to weather forecasts.

Cities in Arizona and Nevada have been hit with a triple-digit heat wave in the past several days. Dozens of flights in and out of Phoenix were grounded Tuesday due to 119 degree weather. Palm Springs hit 121 degrees that day.

And it’s not over yet, according to PhD meteorologist Ryan Maue.

Heat waves can be deadly, especially if people stay in the sun too long or don’t drink enough water. Everyday activities, like running or biking, can become deadly during a heat wave.

At least five deaths have been blamed on the heat. A California man died while running a 5K race in 107 degree heat. Two elderly Californians were found dead in Santa Clara County late Wednesday afternoon. The two likely died from the heat.

A father and son from Texas were found dead at Carlsbad Caverns National Park in New Mexico Tuesday when temperatures were over 100 degrees. The two had been hiking.
