Twitter is growing with the expectation that Detroit Lions superstar quarterback Matthew Stafford is about to cash in big time.
The Oakland Raiders just handed their young quarterback Derek Carr a $125 million contract, with $40 million guaranteed and $7o million guaranteed in the event of an injury.
People think this means that Stafford, who is due for a contract extension, is about to cash in an even bigger way.
So Derek Carr got $25 million per, huh? Matthew Stafford right now pic.twitter.com/P5DAOlcIuY

Washington’s Kirk Cousins and Detroit’s Matthew Stafford next in line now that Derek Carr’s deal is done. QB always going.

Btw, Lions QB Matthew Stafford’s franchise-tag number for 2018 would be a minimum of $26.4 million. So he has a lot of leverage too.

Happiest guy other than Derek Carr and his teammates right now? Matthew Stafford. Will top Carr money this calendar year.

Stafford is the most successful quarterback on the field in the history of the Lions organization, and it’d be completely foolish if the team doesn’t pay him whatever he wants, even if it comes in at more than $130 million.
