One California border city is threatening to sue Mexico for the onslaught of sewage in their water.
Imperial Beach, Calif., is frustrated that The International Boundary and Water Commission has not addressed the issue of water pollution stemming from the Mexican border.
Serge Dedina, mayor of Imperial Beach told Bloomberg BNA that the city is “fed up” with pollution which is allegedly being dumped from the Mexican side of the border into the water.
The city has also requested the Department of Homeland Security fix drainage problems and rebuild the United States-Mexico border fence.
“We are taking concrete steps to address Imperial Beach’s concerns,” said Sally Spener, spokeswoman for the International Boundary and Water Commission, to Bloomberg BNA Wednesday. The commission plans on keeping a close watch on the water quality in the future and improve their wastewater treatment plant.
