MSNBC’s Joy Ann Reid thinks it is the “ultimate irony” that Trump is ending DACA because he has an immigrant wife.
On The Rachel Maddow Show Thursday night, Reid and professional illegal immigrant Jose Antonio Vargas discussed the implications of Trump ending Obama-era protections for illegal immigrants who arrived in the country as minors.
“There’s so many DACA people right now who are worried and anxious, they’re all over my Twitter feed,” Vargas said. “I think we have to know that we are more than pieces of paper and more than laws…this is about way more than being legal.”
Reid then asserted that Trump planning to end DACA is the “ultimate irony” because “the president is married to an immigrant.”
Of course, Melania Trump is a legal immigrant, whereas DACA is a policy for illegal immigrants. But don’t let facts get in the way of your narrative.
