Mark Ruffalo has joined the march from Charlottesville, Va., to Washington D.C., in opposition of white supremacy.

The march comes in response to the violence earlier this month when white supremacists who gathered to protest the removal of a Robert E. Lee statue clashed with counterprotesters. The “Spotlight” actor joined up with the activists marching from the college town to the nation’s capital on Thursday, Page Six reports.

“Marching into Trump Country to confront white supremacy,” Ruffalo tweeted along with a photo of him and several other activists holding up a “Confront White Supremacy” sign.

Ruffalo announced that he’s marching in memory of Heather Heyer, who was killed in the violent protests surrounding the white nationalist rally in Charlottesville. The “Avengers” star also condemned Donald Trump’s response to the incident in which he said both sides were to blame for the violence, although Trump specifically condemned the actions of the white nationalists.

Earlier this month Ruffalo joined a protest against Donald Trump at Trump Tower in New York City alongside fellow actor Olivia Wilde and filmmaker Michael Moore.

According to a statement posted to his Twitter account, Ruffalo hopes that the march will result in the president’s removal from office.
