A single tweet from ESPN reporter Darren Rovell will be very depressing for Texas A&M fans.
Rovell revealed how much former Aggies quarterback Johnny Manziel masked the lack of talent from current coach Kevin Sumlin.
Manziel’s success on the field for Texas A&M turned into massive contracts for Sumlin, and that’s not good news for fans of the program. Sumlin has repeatedly disappointed fans, and blew a 34 point lead Sunday night during the Aggies’ nationally televised season opener against UCLA.
Since Johnny Manziel was drafted, he made about $7M on & off the field. Kevin Sumlin has made $16.6 million during that time.

Manziel won games on the field and brought the program a couple years of success, but the longterm ramifications included handing out a massive and horrible deal to Sumlin.
A&M fans shouldn’t get too excited about moving on from Sumlin anytime soon. The school will owe him over $11 million if he’s fired, which is a massive buyout for a college sports team.
$11.25 million: Kevin Sumlin’s current buyout. Texas A&M’s deal must pay him entire contract owed within 60 days if it lets him go.

Manziel might not have done well in the NFL, but the fact he was able to make Sumlin look like a genius is a testament to how great his college tenure was.
