What you enjoy watching on television could likely reveal who you voted for in the 2016 presidential election.
If a viewer favors watching dark comedies or programs that feature non-traditional families, the viewer more than likely voted for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2016, the LA Times reports. On the other hand, if a viewer likes to watch shows that depict traditional family values and programs that have strong male leads who often do the right thing, that person likely voted for President Donald Trump.
So, if a voter cast their ballot for Clinton, they are probably watching late-night shows like Stephen Colbert or Saturday Night Live, which have had a field day mocking the president and his administration. Trump voters draw a stark contrast with Clinton voters in what they watch, eschewing programs that make fun of religious practices or outright attack the administration in the pursuit of a laugh.
Hallmark channel is taking advantage of these findings, making sure that their programs do not depict sex, violence and anything that might polarize an audience. It appears to have paid off for the network, whose audience grew roughly 9 percent in the second-quarter of 2017. Other major networks, like TNT and USA, saw declines in viewership during the same period.
