The Chicago Police Department said it will discipline two officers who “took a knee” in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick on Sunday.

The department vowed to issue “reprimands” to the two black officers Monday after an activist posted a picture of them kneeling with their fists in the air. Their actions coincided with roughly 200 NFL players kneeling or staying in their locker rooms during the pre-game national anthem in protest against police brutality. The post had less than 2,000 likes as of Tuesday morning.

“We are aware of the photo and we will address it in the same way we have handled previous incidents in which officers have made political statements while in uniform, with a reprimand and a reminder of department policies,” the department told the Chicago Tribune.

Aleta Clark posted the photo to her “englewoodbarbie,” instagram account Sunday with the caption, “That Moment when you walk into the police station and ask the Men of Color are they Against Police Brutality and Racism & they say Yes… then you ask them if they support Colin Kapernick [sic] … and they also say yes… then you ask them to Kneel!”

The Chicago Police Department did not respond in time for publication to a request from The Daily Caller News Foundation to clarify how the officers were “reprimanded.”
