DirecTV is willing to give some of its customers a refund if they want to cancel their subscriptions to NFL games following anger over the protests, according to a Tuesday Wall Street Journal report.

A few customer service representatives told The WSJ that they have been honoring cancellation requests if a customer called them to cancel their Sunday Ticket package of NFL games, while other representatives offered a different perspective on how they were allowed to handle cancellation requests.

One representative explained that they were allowed to honor cancellation requests from customers with certain plans, and another said the company was willing to give a pro-rated refund if the customer wanted cancel. One also told The WSJ that no refunds were available to customers, and another claimed that if a customer mentioned they were canceling over the protests, their requests would be honored.

The standard policy for the Sunday Ticket package is to deny requests for cancellations once the season has started.

Despite the varying stories from the customer service representatives, DirecTV customers claimed that they were able to cancel their packages hassle-free. Marc Hoffman said he received a full refund after complaining about players kneeling, and Chris Baker said he canceled it because the games were becoming too political.

“I honestly didn’t think I’d get a refund,” Hoffman said. “I know their guidelines, I just wanted to make a point.”

Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick began kneeling last year during the national anthem to protest the systemic oppression of black people in America. President Donald Trump mentioned the protests during a rally Friday, suggesting that the NFL should fire players who refused to stand during the anthem. Hundreds of players kneeled the Sunday after, sparking a wave of protests that show no signs of slowing down.

The NFL and AT&T, who acquired DirecTV in 2015, did not return The Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment in time for publication.
