Communities are tired of living in fear, Markey tweeted before turning his focus to the Republican Party for a lack of action on the “epidemic of gun violence” in America.

Markey isn’t the only Democrat seizing the moment to push a political agenda. Sens. Chris Murphy of Connecticut and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts also weighed in before all the facts of the incident came out.
Murphy issued a statement demanding Congress “get off its ass and do something,” and Warren tweeted, “We need to have the conversation about how to stop gun violence. We need it NOW.”
