According to messages released Friday from the Department of Justice, the suspect in an ISIS-inspired terror plot in New York City called the Philippines a “breeding ground for terrorists.”

The suspect, 37-year-old Filipino citizen Russell Salic, was arrested in the Philippines for his involvement in a terror plot in New York City with Abdulrahman El Bahnasawy, a Pakistani-American, and Talha Haroon, a Canadian.

Salic, in messages to the other alleged conspirators, said he could send money from the Philippines to support terror.

“[I]ts not strict here. Unli[k]e in Aus [Australia] or Uk [the United Kingdom] even liking FB [Facebook] status will put[] u in jail . . . Terrorists from all over the world usually come here as a breeding ground for terrorists . . . hahahaha . . . But no worry here in Philippines. They dont care bout IS [ISIS]..loll[.] Only in west,” he said, according to the Department of Justice.

The suspects were allegedly planning to target music concerts, the subway system, and monuments in New York. (RELATED: Three Arrested For ISIS-Inspired Plot On Concerts In NYC–One Suspect In The Philippines)
